Topic: "How small firms can benefit from hiring even in a down economy"
Speakers: Wendy Duffey of The McCormick Group
Hosted by: Birnbaum & Godkin, 280 Summer Street, Boston, MA (Directions)

No matter what the economy, finding and retaining employees is critical to growing a successful business. How can a small law firm or other professional service firm find the right people? What alternatives are available for sourcing candidates? How can you hire when cash flow is tight? We’ll discuss how recruiting is different in a tough economy including the “bargains” from which you might benefit.

Wendy Duffey is a Search Consultant with The McCormick Group, who specializes in searches on behalf of lawyers and law firms. Locally, she has worked with firms such as Goodwin Procter, Mintz Levin and Gesmer Updegrove; nationally, her clients include Sidley Austin and Drinker Biddle. Before becoming an executive search consultant Wendy held senior positions in human resources at Fidelity Investments, General Electric and Arthur D. Little. Wendy received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Notre Dame. She is a member of Society for Human Resource Management, the Legal Sales and Service Organization and the Human Resources Roundtable in Boston. Wendy has served as a volunteer at the Boston Marathon since 1989 and as a “Big Sister” for over 25 years.
