Event: "What Every Lawyer Should Know About Insurance - Part I"
Speaker: George Eisenberg, Esq.
Date: May 24, 2005 (Tuesday)
Time: 7:30am
Place: Rebecca's Café, 55 William Street, Wellesley Office Park

This is the first of a three part series on insurance that the BLN will present over the next year. This series will cover (1) life and disability insurance, (2) business owner policies and (3) professional liability (malpractice) coverage. This three-part program is an opportunity for lawyers to compare notes with other lawyers, hear what the insurance professionals recommend, and ask specific questions. The first program will be lead by George Eisenberg, a veteran of the financial services industry with more than 22 years at Northwestern Mutual Life.

Whether advising clients or making risk assessments for our personal lives, insurance issues are ones which frequently arise in a legal practice. What are the differences between whole life, term life and key man insurance? When is disability insurance needed? What does it mean to be self-insured? What dollar amounts are sufficient? What deductibles are reasonable? What is negotiable? When should insurance be used as a means of funding partner or shareholder buy-out agreements? George will lead an interactive discussion to address these and other insurance issues.

In addition to his 22 years with NML, George is a Qualifying Member of Million Dollar Road Table, Certified Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant, and Series 7 licensed (which means he can sell stocks, bonds, puts calls, etc). George also has a doctorate in educational administration and, prior to starting a financial services career, he was a high school principal and teacher. George is also father of Eric Eisenberg, an Attorney in Washington DC, and Leah Eisenberg, a Special Education high school teacher in Lexington (where George lives).
