The hottest topic these days in legal marketing and legal technology is blogging. Blogging is a highly effective yet extremely low-cost way for a lawyer to achieve a higher profile and higher search-engine rankings. And a core technology of blogging, RSS (for "Really Simple Syndication"), is becoming the delivery mechanism of choice for an array of news and information sources. Beyond blogging, there are now a number of law-related podcasts, delivering audio and video news, commentary and CLE programming. This will be an introduction to blogging and podcasting and what they mean to law practice.

Rockport lawyer Bob Ambrogi is author of two books, The Best (and Worst) Legal Sites on the Web, now in its second edition, and The Internet Guide for Massachusetts Lawyers. Since 1993, his syndicated column about the Internet has appeared in legal periodicals throughout the U.S., and Law Technology News has published his Web Watch column since 1999. He founded the first Internet newsletter for lawyers, legal.online, in 1994. He continues to track new law-related Web sites through his blog LawSites, www.legaline.com/lawsites.html. He also writes the blog Media Law, www.legaline.com/medialaw.html, and is co-author of Law.com's Legal Blog Watch, http://legalblogwatch.typepad.com. He is co-host of a weekly legal-affairs podcast, Coast to Coast, available at www.legaltalknetwork.com.

Bob was formerly editor-in-chief of the National Law Journal and editorial director of American Lawyer Media's Litigation Services Division. Before joining ALM, Bob was founding editor of the national newspaper Lawyers Weekly USA and editor-in-chief of Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. He also served as vice president of the international legal marketing firm Jaffe Associates. He is a 1980 graduate of Boston College Law School.
