BLN Open Meeting (Wellesley) - Feb 6, 2007
Event: "Protecting Business Data From Disaster"
Speaker: Peter Jalajas of Tebuco, Inc.
Date: February 6, 2007 (Tuesday)
Time: 7:30am
Place: Rebecca's Café, 55 William Street, Wellesley Office Park* (directions)
Is your business data protected? What if lightening strikes your computer? What if there is an office fire? What if there is a flood or sprinkler system malfunction? What if the office server or hard drive is stolen or destroyed by a disgruntled employee? Information security is vital to lawyers, their firms, and their clients. Information security not only protects physical equipment and media, but also the confidentiality of sensitive client data through encryption.
In this session, Pete Jalajas will present an overview of the features required for data protection systems: security (access control and encryption), off-site back-up, redundancy, Internet-based access and retrieval, automated processes, convenience and ease-of-use, low-cost, reliable, and minimal or no IT staff required. Taking the appropriate security measures will protect the firm’s computer systems and data. It will also protect the firm's reputation and revenues, avoid malpractice claims, and comply with the firm’s ethical obligations.
Pete Jalajas, founder of Tebuco, Inc. (TEchnical BUsiness Consulting), is a technology generalist for small businesses. For the past 20 years, he has been managing business data for environmental consulting firms, including Arcadis/Geraghty & Miller, as well as for Fidelity/BostonCoach, Hitachi/Quadrasis, and independently for Tebuco for the past 3 years. Seeing the business need for simple, inexpensive, automated, secure, off-site data backups, he started the TebucoSafe(SM) service in early 2006.
